It’s the first time i’ve listened to the Savage Love Podcast in a while, and it turns out to be the one where he addresses [intro–6:00] the suicide of Jamey Rodemeyer, who I didn’t realize was also a contributor to the It Gets Better campaign.

I typically ignore all stories in the news revolving around abuse, murder, suicide, kidnapping, and similar or related tragedies, because most of the time, the news media at large write about them in a horribly manipulative manner.

However, Dan Savage’s reaction to, and retelling of Jamey’s story, is quite different because he has a personal stake in the story, without losing track of the fact that the story isn’t about himself. Savage ends his thoughts with a positive message of doing more to help others, and pulls a heavy weight.

The rest of the podcast is up to his strong standards, and is worth your time if you haven’t tuned in in a while.
